The Secretariat Security Force (SSF), functioning under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has officially announced a recruitment drive for the posts of Constable (Barber) and Constable (Washerman). Vacancy Details

Note: Vacancies are tentative and may be revised. 10% of the total vacancies are reserved for Ex-Servicemen in their respective categories.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality: Only male Indian citizens are eligible to apply. Female candidates are not considered for this recruitment.

Educational Qualification: Candidates must have cleared the Matriculation (10th standard) examination from a recognized school, institution, or board. In addition, they will be required to pass a Trade Test relevant to their applied post — either Barber or Washerman.

Age Limit: The permissible age range for both posts is 18 to 23 years, calculated as of the closing date of application, i.e., 28 April 2026. Age relaxation is applicable as per government norms for reserved categories and ex-servicemen.

Pay Scale

Candidates who are successfully selected will be placed at Pay Level-2 of the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix, with a monthly salary ranging from ₹19,900 to ₹63,200.

The fee must be paid through the online payment gateway on the ITBP recruitment portal only. No other payment method will be accepted, and fees once paid are non-refundable.

Selection Process

The selection will be conducted in multiple stages, and candidates must qualify each phase to advance to the next:

Phase 1 – Physical Efficiency Test (PET): This is qualifying in nature with no marks awarded. Events include a 1.6 km race (to be completed within 7 minutes and 30 seconds), Long Jump (minimum 11 feet, with 3 attempts), and High Jump (minimum 3½ feet, with 3 attempts). Failure in any one event results in elimination. Ex-Servicemen are exempt from PET.

Phase 2 – Physical Standard Test (PST): Candidates who pass the PET will be assessed for minimum required physical measurements including height, chest, and weight.

Phase 3 – Written Examination: A written test will be held to assess general knowledge, reasoning, and basic aptitude.

Phase 4 – Trade Test: Candidates will demonstrate practical skills in their respective trade (Barber or Washerman).

Phase 5 – Document Verification: Original certificates and documents will be checked for authenticity.

Phase 6 – Medical Examination: A Detailed Medical Examination (DME) will be conducted, followed by a Review Medical Examination (RME) if required.
